You might enjoy them in your home as Biblical images portraying a sense of peace in a troubled world.
Via Dolorosa ("Way of Sorrows") (Impressions of Israel Collection)
Thomas Kinkade recently flew to Israel in Spring 2006 and painted 10 images.
Upon Thomas Kinkade's arrival in Israel, due
to the current tight security, his paint thinner was removed. He had to
search around to get a replacement so he could start painting. Upon
arrival, Thom got to work and started his first piece.
Via Dolorosa ("Way of Sorrows") was painted by Thomas Kinkade in two sessions.
Kinkade wanted to add people into this piece.
Via Dolorosa is located in the Arab sector of Jerusalem and is said to be the traditional route where Jesus carried the cross.
The first arch is said to be the area where Jesus received the crown of thorns.
When Kinkade set up his easel to begin work on this painting, he was swarmed by a group of Arab children.
Then was pelted by pebbles (children like to throw rocks and pebbles there) while painting.
A local man came to his aid and shooed the children away.
The man sent his son to sit near Thom and keep watch so that he could paint.
This boy served almost as impromptu security for Thom this day! Was all in good fun.
In conjection with the Minister of Tourism, an Exhibition titled "From
Abraham to Jesus" will tour many cities in the United States. The exhibition
features 240 artifacts from the Holy Land including the Dead sea Scrolls.
Thomas Kinkade's 10 paintings of the Holy Land are included in the Exhibition
and "A Prayer for Peace" is the over banner for the exhibit.
