About Lombard Street ~~Lombard Street in San Francisco is billed as the world's crookedest street. It is a lot steeper than it looks, and it zig zags back and forth for one block, the street is brick, and there are plants all the way down the street. ~~~It is actually crooked for a very good reason. It's incredibly steep! If not for the byzantine curves, easing out this treacherous slope, people would be killed rolling down. ~~~Amazingly, some of the most expensive Real Estate of San Francisco exists on Lombard Street. There are stately mansions, condos and townhouses, even with the endless array of tourists pouring down the street every day. ~~~There are beautiful Victorian Mansions all along the street not unlike some of the Victorian mansions featured by Thom is his Victorian Christmas series. ~~~ In the spring and through the entire summer, Lombard Street is alive with color, as the chrysanthemums, and other well tended flowers are in full bloom.
